Federal Mediation
According to the Los Angeles Times, both sides of the strike at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach have agreed to federal mediation.
Los Angles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa said the agreement was an encouraging sign and could help bring an end to the strike, now in its eighth day. He said the parties negotiated throughout the night and there had been some recent movement.
Vessel Diversions
According to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency, as of December 3rd, 17 vessels had been diverted to other ports. 10 going to Oakland, 1 going to Panama and 6 going to Mexico.
